Kulno is an active folk musician and accordionist. He has graduated UT Viljandi Culture Academy music department where his speciality was traditional music. He is still active in Viljandi.

Kulno is trying to discover the essence of Estonian traditional accordion music and how it should sound.

He has publicated two solo records, „Victoriale“ (2007) and „Teine“ (2012), both albums received surprisingly positive feedback from the critics. Kulno has been playing in a music duo Kulno Malva/Tõnis Kirsipu since 2013. In the same year they won two important folk music competitions, Pärimuse Päitsed and Moisekatsi Elohelü. Besides from that he is also part of some other bands – Rütmiallikal and Folksell. Since the end of 2013 he started working on creating a new band with Meelika Hainsoo.




Kulno has been a charter member of some well known folk bands  such as Svjata Vatra and Nikns Suns. Different performances have also taken him abroad, to France, Romania, England, Germany and many other places. In the summer of 2014 he will participate in Pillipidu where accordion orchestra will perform several of his appliances.

He has also collaborated with Kristiina Ehin, a well known poet; dj Harletno, Estonian Open Air Museum (creating video- and audio installations) and with movie director Liis Nimik for whose documentary movie „Viimane laul“ Kulno wrote music to.

Through the years he has participated in different school concerts („Piirideta pärimus“, „Sinasõprus pärimusmuusika ja –pillidega“ and „Eesti ja Ukraina pühad muusikas“).

In the near future Kulno is planning to introduce his music more and more in Estonia and abroad. He is also planning to publish an omnibus of notes with audio samples for traditional accordion music.
